Achievements

Many of our students have gone on to successful careers with other schools.

The Royal Ballet

Congratulations to Yasmine Naghdi who has been offered a contract with The Royal Ballet. Yasmine joined The Royal Ballet School, White Lodge, half way through Year 8, after her potential was spotted at her Associate Classes. In Year 10 she was the youngest-ever dancer to go through to the finals of the ‘Young British Dancer of The Year’ competition and in 2009 she won First Prize in this competition, at the age of just 15.

Yasmine graduated to the Upper School in September 2009 where she was quickly promoted to the 3rd year. Half way through her graduation year, Monica Mason offered Yasmine a contract, starting in April 2010, to join The Royal Ballet at the age of 17. We all look forward to following Yasmine’s progress as she moves up the ranks within the Company.

English National Ballet

Congratulations to Helena Clark-Maxwell who has been offered an apprentice contract with English National Ballet at the age of 18. Helena was a pupil with WLSD until she was 16; she was also an Mid-Associate and Senior Associate with the Royal Ballet School. Helena joined the Young Dancers Academy in 2007 and went to Havana that summer to attend the Pro Danza Summer School; after graduating from the YDA in July 2008, she was offered a place at the National Ballet School of Cuba. Helena was the first English pupil to graduate from this school in July 2010, after gaining the Gold Award Diploma and coming top of her year. After returning to the UK Helena auditioned with English National Ballet and was offered a contract by Wayne Eagling. We all look forward to following her progress too.
